Intentional Community in Italy ⎪Amiglia
Amiglia was born from a quiet longing to live in a different way. After many years of travelling, Zoe felt called to find a home again somewhere on this planet. Along the way she visited intentional communities and retreat centres around the world, yet nowhere did she feel she truly belonged. Each place revealed something about what resonated deeply with her, and what did not.
Listening to the call to find a home again, she knew it would be in untouched nature, and not alone. That is where she started. She found an inspiring property in Italy — a place that seemed to invite creativity and the uncovering of its potential — and bought it, not knowing what would come next.
The Origin of Amiglia
In her work as a spiritual teacher, she often speaks about allowing life to unfold rather than trying to control it. Amiglia is an expression of this lived inquiry. It is not built from a fixed plan, but shaped by presence, attention, and what life seems to ask for in each moment.
Rather than designing every detail in advance, Amiglia has grown organically. It is shaped by the land, the people who arrive, and a shared willingness to explore conscious living, creativity, and self-inquiry. Even Zoe often finds herself surprised by how naturally things come together when there is space to listen.
“It’s really about intention. I don’t have to do much myself. What I practise is ongoing self-inquiry and being fully present in this moment. To me, that means not blocking the creative force of life from finding me. And when life finds me, it also finds Amiglia.”
How Amiglia Is Shaped by People and Place
This means that Amiglia is also shaped by others. People arrive, stay for a while, and contribute in ways that feel natural to them. Some care for the land, some cook, some create, some simply participate in the shared rhythm of daily life.
As an intentional community, Amiglia is not based on obligation or ideology. It is a space for conscious living, self-inquiry, creativity, and connection with nature. People come together through a shared interest in presence and exploration, while still maintaining their individual freedom.
Daily Life in an Intentional Community
We share meals, we share morning practice, and we share silence. We do not feel the need to entertain one another. Silence is welcomed and often felt as deeply supportive — especially during our daily morning practice — yet there is also joy, laughter, and collaboration in everyday tasks. Beneath all of this is a sense of connection that does not depend on words.
What People Experience at Amiglia
What many people notice when they arrive at Amiglia is a feeling that is difficult to define. A sense of ease. Simplicity. Belonging. As if something in life becomes less effortful when there is space to simply be, together.
This is what Amiglia continues to explore: how to live, create, and relate from a place that feels more honest, more spacious, and more connected to life itself.
